Purchased my Freedom Electric trike December 2015. The trike came fully assembled and shipped to my home in Florida. I am as senior and wanted a safe electric trike to ride around my neighborhood. I called the people at Industrialbicycles.com and talked to there sales people for a recommendation. I was told the Freedom Electric was designed for a senior. They told me the max speed is about 11 miles and hour which is a bit slower than some other electric trikes. They also told me the electric motor can be controlled by the throttle or by just pedaling like a normal bike. The Freedom trike is different than most other trikes on the market because it has a sensor that feels you pedaling. I think this feature is fantastic, all I have to do is turn the key on and start pedaling and the motor starts to help. Soon as you stop pedaling the motor automatically turns off. When you start pedaling again the motor automatically turns back on and starts to help. Another safety feature that I like is that the brake levers have a sensor that will automatically turn off the motor if the brake lever is squeezed. The battery on the Freedom is locked into place with the same on/off key and can be easily removed if need be. The rear fender has a light that is powered by a generator that runs off of the side of the front tire. The generator can be set to run on the side of the tire or can be positioned where it does not contact the tire. The Trike also has a shock absorber style front fork to smooth out the ride. Far as I am aware of this is the only type of trike on the market with a shock absorber front fork. I feel the trike is good quality and has a good ride. The motor is powerful and fast enough for my needs. I am happy with the guidance I received from the sales people at Industrialbicycles.com and am happy with my choice.
