| Descriptions Coaster Brake Hub Remember when you were a kid and you rode your bike that only had one speed and you stopped the bike by pedaling 1/4 turn backwards to stop? You had a coaster brake rear hub in your back wheel similar to the hub top left photo. 3 Speed Coaster Brake Similar to the coaster brake where you pedal 1/4 turn backwards to stop but also added three speeds that are all internal gearing inside the hub like the photo top right. Freewheel Similar to riding a mountain bike or old road bike with more that five speeds. When you pedal backwards with a freewheel you just can keep going around in a circle backwards. Pedaling backwards with a freewheel will not stop the trike.
