2011 Surrey Double Bench Deluxe was designed with an
appreciation of our past and an eye to the future. The
result is the Surrey Double Bench Deluxe, a surrey bike
accommodating six adults and two children, unique in its
design and style with no equal.
THE
SURREY DOUBLE BENCH DELUXE, the
younger and bigger sibling of the Surrey bike, first made
its debut in the leisure cycle and rental business in 1985.
Designed for six adults and two small children, the "Limo"
is perfect for larger families or two families to ride and
enjoy the sites together.
In the rental arena, Limo
rental rates range from $20.00 an hour to $35.00 a
half-hour.
The Easy 7 Speed Shimano Gearing Package (optional)
takes the Surrey bike riding experience to a new and
unprecedented level. The package was exclusively
designed for this Surrey and includes upgraded 1.50 aluminum
alloy rims. The package is available for either the driver
side or both the driver and passenger side of the Surrey
Double Bench Deluxe. Specially engineered 26 tooth rear
sprockets are included to enable riders to meet the
challenge of any riding conditions. The Easy 7 Speed
Shimano Gearing Package is a must on your new Surrey bike.

The Easy 7 Speed Gearing
Package utilizes a low-maintenance internally geared
hub that does not require a derailer or multiple rear
sprockets. The gearing package also includes a specially
engineered large axle so the rear wheel does not lose any
strength compared to the single speed. Other brands of
Surrey gearing packages use an off-the-shelf Sturmey Archer
hub that was design for a two-wheel bicycle, not a Surrey
bike, which is why the other brands do not offer the
multi-gear on larger products. $400.00 per side.

Cover Box Chain Guards:
Another recommendation by our cycle rental customers was to
improve the chain guard. While the old chain guards covered
the top of the chain adequately, they left the chain exposed
on the inside of the cycle. While we have never had any
situations with users getting injured because of this
exposed chain, any feature that can decrease liability is a
major improvement.
A few customers told us
that an exposed inside chain could be a "potential"
liability. In response to this, we have built the 2011
Surrey Double Bench Deluxe Surrey with a chain guard box where both the top and
inside chain are covered and boxed in.
Another issue with chain guards is that customers tend to
use these at footsteps to get in and out of the cycle. What
we have done is increased the points of attachment of the
chain guard box to the cycle from two points to three
points, making the chain guard more solidly attached to the
cycle.
Rubber Bellow
Covering for Steering Rod Universal Joint:
Our customers requested that we add a protective covering
over the universal joint on the steering rod. The concern
was that since it's within arm's reach of the driver, there
was a possibility of someone putting their hands near it and
getting fingers caught. The universal joint is now covered
by a rubber bellow.
Upgraded Steel:
We've upgraded the class of
steel used on the frame of the cycle all around.
